General comments: Weather was good. Catches exceeded our expectations as we did not fish continually. Only negative comment was the “only one door key”- inconvenient at times, not a serious problem. As “Party Chef” I was very happy with the kitchen facilities. Rest of the house – excellent. Thank-you.

General comments: The house was a dream. Would have liked to have put in more fishing but our wives don't drive, so we took time out to take them on a few day trips. Nice area, very peaceful. Would recommend venue and Angling Lines to anyone.

General comments: Fish & lake are both lovely condition. Well maintained house – I want!! Heather & Larry both very nice friendly people & very helpful, Christian the plumber very nice too. People in local village of Larchamp very friendly also Super-U in Ernee very easy to find, very good & staff very helpful & polite. Euro-Disney worth a visit for Families, 3 hour drive but cheaper than train. Lovely relaxing Family holiday if kids like fish or if you don’t mind a drive.

General comments: Extract from visitors comments book: Only fished 3 full days, other days few hours a day or in the evenings, still managed a reasonable catch. Fish feed better when overcast weather. Accommodation & location beautiful. Everywhere very comfortable. Everything needed was at hand. Ideal location for fishing for the men & relaxation for the women.

General comments: Extract from visitors comments book: Fabulous house & grounds, everything possibly needed was provided. Very comfortable. Heather & Larry very friendly & helpful, particularly when had need of a new windscreen. Fishing was very good even though we didn’t fish as much as we could have done, it being a Family holiday. Highly recommend “La Piazza” Italian restaurant in Fougeres, discovered this when Pizza place in Larchamp & Ernee decided to go on holiday!

General comments: Too many small fish. Extract from house comments book: Had a slow start due to high winds & rain every day, when weather cleared the fish started showing in the margins & lily pads. All big fish were caught using 20mm boilies over a bed of trout pellet & ground bait tight to margins & overhanging trees. If we would have had a bait boat we would have caught more fish as the closer to the margins you can get you have more chance of catching the larger fish. We would recommend using no bait smaller than 20mm if you want to avoid the smaller fish. Swims 1 & 2 produced all the decent fish, avoid the swim closest to the house & the swim at the dam end of the lake. When fishing is slow would recommend resting the lake for a few hours as every time we did this we started catching again. The house & facilities were excellent, was just like being at home! Would like to have used the BBQ but the weather was rubbish! Owners comment: Unfortunately there was a problem with the boiler which has now been rectified.

General comments: Once again, a superb venue providing good clean facilities including a well equipped kitchen, superb washroom, charming conservatory & roomy lounge. Bank side facilities good, well maintained with welcome extras – lights, table/seating area, though the swim furtherest away from the house is cold with no sheltered areas + noisy due to dam. Bait freezer in house was welcome + well used.

Brief details of your catches: Rob - Grass Carp 33lb, Common 30lb, 9 x 20's to 28lb, 4 x doubles and 1 Koi. Tom - a P.B. Common of 26lb 4oz, 1 Koi and several singles.Emily - singles, including a P.B. Common of 5lb 2oz (In total we also caught in excess of 20 singles between us)

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Simple running rigs with single 18mm or snowman hook baits over boilies + 8mm Pellets. Maize and small boilies for the smaller carp. Fish were caught from the near and far margins. We also found that resting the swim for a few hours each day, or night, would often result in 2 or 3 quick takes so a spare landing net is useful.

General comments: We had a great holiday, the fishing and the house were both excellent. The weather was very changeable through out the week, we did have some hot days, but also storms. It rained every day, which did make the fishing difficult at times, and the house a welcome retreat. It was a little worrying to see the comments about the rats before we came out to France, but they were not a problem, we saw only a few on the far bank, so either they didn't like the rain, have moved on, or have now been dealt with. The smaller carp in the main lake can be frustrating as there are so many, but are great fun for the children. Perhaps a few should be moved to the smaller lake? What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Fish changed preferred baits, start of week (stormy) maize, mid-week crab boilie, end of week very strong for halibut pellets (22mm + 14mm. 95% fish in margins, far bank, under trees from peg one on main bank.

General comments: Many thanks for a fantastic week. The facilities were superb & Heather & Larry very welcoming & helpful. This trip was with fishing friends, but I would use Watersmeet as a great venue for a fishing + holiday for our Family. The one issue is the quantity & proximity of rats. At the start of the week there were lots around. The number visible did diminish during the week. OWNERS COMMENT: We are aware of the presence of some rats caused we believe by a fairly mild winter & the fact that the farm next door has been having a lot of ground- work done recently. We are continually monitoring the situation and endeavouring to control them. We ask that guests please try not to leave any bait or food laying around outside.

General comments: Far too many small carp (3 to 8lb) in main lake, would have caught more large carp if they did not constantly take bait. However still managed to take 41 good Carp in changeable weather conditions (sun, rain, thunder, etc) Large population of rats in the area need to be controlled. But apart from that venue is great & excellent accommodation.
