Robin Lake is set on the Goncourt complex of gravel pits, is around 10 acres and semi-oval in shape, narrowing in the middle. Originally excavated & finished in 1980, the lake edges are mature with plenty of willows. There is an active gravel unit on the far bank which does cause some noise, but most people do not find this excessive. Fishing is from the remaining 3 banks.

Robin is hired exclusively for up to 6 anglers and has the benefit of a lakeside mobile home which is included in the price. It comprises a living room, kitchen and 2 bedrooms (one with a double bed, one with 2 single beds). Two more people can also sleep in the living room.

The lake is a typical gravel pit with a host of interesting features such as an island, gravel bars and plateaux as well as high gravel stacks rising from the bottom to just below the surface. There’s certainly plenty of likely spots to place a bait.

Robin Lake has quite a few obvious features to fish to and the fish do seem to move from one side of the lake to the other… so it’s just a question of keeping the eyes open to locate them. Having had very little pressure their reaction to bait is excellent. The better results seem to come from a 1/2 pound of bait per rod approach, where every rod is pointed towards its own feature. Major casting skills are not required on this venue - if you can cast up to 50m then you can fish anywhere on the lake.
The fish make full use of the many features… the island, gravel bars and plateaux as well as the high gravel stacks rising from the bottom to just below the surface. Some weed patches may provide additional features in the bays during the summer months. Robin has always been excellent for stalking with the fish being very fond of patrolling the margins.

The fishing is prolific with lots of action - a real runs water. There are around 300 carp, averaging high doubles to low twenties... the current lake record stands at 39lb. The Koi average 15lb but go to 20lb+ and the Grass carp average 10-15lb, biggest 20lb+.
This lake would be a good choice for a group of anglers who would like a lake to themselves with good action and the bonus of lakeside accommodation. Interested? Give us a call...
