Morgane Lakes 2008 Round-up
Morgane Lakes is an extremely popular venue and rightly so. It was originally set up as a runs water, so it just goes to show that given a couple of years, you can get not only the quantity of carp but also the quality, as it is now starting to produce a lot of big fish.
The addition of a second lake with huge catfish means anglers really do get the best of both worlds.
Here then are a few highlights of the 2008 season;
May 2008; The De Gruchy party... 70 fish in total. 10 Thirties including a Mirror of 37lb and a Common of 33lb 10. 27 Twenties. 37lb Sturgeon out 3 times.
“Highly recommend the venue for small groups of anglers looking for big carp fishing in peaceful surroundings.”
June 2008; Sean Marjoram and friends.... 71 carp and 3 sturgeon, 1 cat. The biggest carp mirror 41lb 2oz, commons to 36lb 5oz, grass carp to 23lb 7oz, ghosts to 37lb 8oz,koi to 29lb. The cat was 94lb and the biggest sturgeon was 34lb 20z. Total weight of fish 1510lb.
“Can't recommend this venue enough had a great week. If you have never fished in France this is the one for you at times we could not get all three rods out without one of the others screaming off.”
July 2008; Adrian Marsh party.... 1,220 lb of fish over the seven days fished. All 5 anglers achieved personal bests highlights of which were Catfish 50lb, Common Carp 42lb 2oz, Sturgeon 35lb, Grass Carp 39lb 8oz and a total of 17 carp over 30lb.
“Morgane Lakes is a very special place - All of our party were absolutely delighted by the high quality of the fishing and the condition of all of the fish we caught.”
So if you fancy a crack at these big fish then get in quick as this venue books very early.
Regards, Gareth.

Details: Facilities at Morganes get a freshen up....
During a recent visit to France I swung by to see for myself the recent improvements to the mobile home at Morganes.
It became obvious last season that the mobile home had started to look its age and attention was need to address the problems. The venues fishing continued to receive excellent feedback but the mobile home was receiving poor feedback due to the state of some of its interior.
Well I'm delighted to tell you its been nicely renovated. The owners have taken to heart the feedback and put right all the faults.
This included a complete steam clean of all the interior surfaces - walls, ceiling and floors. New mattresses on the beds, a new gas cooker, new tap on the sink unit and finally the re-upholstery of the sofas.
These improvements should make for a much more comfortable stay at the venue during 2009.

Details: Thank you for a fantastic holiday!
Dear Angling Lines,
I would like to say thank you for making the most perfect Angling Holiday package's there is in the world catering for all types of anglers with different levels of experience, by providing us with various sized venues with different stock densities there is something to fulfil everyone’s requirements.
Having booked my holidays with you for many years now I can honestly say that each year seems to out do the previous year which is amazing as from the very first year we travelled with you every member of our party caught well and enjoyed the whole experience. Our most recent trip in June 2007 included a week on Vivier and then a week on Morganes which were both extremely well run with peaceful and scenic surroundings, not to mention the fish stocks that both these lakes contain which really is immense. How these people source that quantity of quality conditioned big fish really is beyond me - you’ve only got to look at our catch reports to get an idea of the density of fish stocked in both of these lakes.
We spent our first week on étang de Vivier where Ian the lake owner was extremely helpful and would come round daily to see how you were getting on and if there was anything that you needed from tackle, directions, bait or just a general chat - he would do it all. We also decided on the food package that he provides consisting of an evening meal and desert which was fantastic, with your meals brought to the lakeside to you and each meal being fit for a king (I think he forgot we were just fishing ha-ha).He also went out of his way and brought my father a birthday cake and we had a social on the fri night before we left as we had just mentioned that it was my dads birthday in the week which I thought was an extremely nice gesture and meant a lot.
The fishing was also amazing with everyone having a great week with many fish being caught by all, with my younger brother having an exceptional week with two large catfish caught at 82 lb and 86 lb followed by a 41 lb mirror on Ian's own boilies that he sells and all in the space of one hour which was his PB brace of cats and also his PB carp not to mention it was also the lake record catfish to be banked, as there are bigger in there but as of yet nobody has managed to land them unfortunately.
From Vivier we went to Morganes Lake where we were met by Laurent Bigot the lake owner who is also extremely helpful and speaks good broken English. He really does make an effort to make your stay enjoyable. By offering various baits including live baits and directions to most places of interest in the area, not to mention if you don't want to come off the lake for any reason he will also fetch various items from the village for you he really does make a difference to your holiday and also cleans the caravan to a top standard.
The fishing again was also amazing for this lake with results that were immense with the first two fish to come out being a 6 lb tench followed by a 50 lb mirror caught by my younger brother again so you can imagine his views on the holiday but when every one else caught 40 lb fish and numerous 30 lb fish it rely did seem like we were in heaven.
Here is a copy of our catch report attached and THANK YOU for a great holiday.
Yours Sincerely,
Colin Claxton,
Carl Claxton,
Ian Claxton
Daniel Hall.

Details: Morganes 2 to open in the Spring!
We have just returned from a trip to France & a meeting with Msr. Bigot, owner of Morganes & Margot. He's shown us a new lake he plans to open in the spring, just up the road from Morganes. A little bigger at around 3.5 acres he plans to instal a mobile home and stock it just as prolifically as Morganes. It's name? Morganes 2! Not very original we know but Morganes has such a fantastic reputation and this lake is so close & will be so similar in set-up that it seemed the obvious choice.
Some of the anglers who were on Morganes last week have seen it & already booked for next year!
We'll keep you posted as we get more news.
