Long Lake is a former gravel pit set in the lush agricultural countryside of north eastern France, around 3.5 hours from Calais. It’s a relatively large lake at 18 acres in size and accepts up to 12 anglers. It can be booked exclusively but individual bookings are welcome too.

The lake has excellent facilities in a large wooden lodge, including kitchen, with fridge freezer, cooker, oven, tables and chairs. There are 2 showers and toilets one of which allows access for wheelchairs.

Fish stocks are excellent too. Around 4 tonnes of carp were stocked in 2003 with the largest being over 40lb. These fish have grown well with a number of specimens now topping the 30lb mark, up to 40lb, and whilst the average is high doubles to low twenties, action is usually fast and furious whilst you’re waiting for that biggie. As a bonus the lake also has large sturgeon to over 60lb and if you’ve never caught one of these tail-walking maniacs you’re in for a treat!

Long Lake has not seen a lot of angling pressure and standard tactics are all that is needed, good quality boilies, particles and pellets should see all anglers catch well.

We expect to see really good catches from this lake in 2008 and experience has taught us that the first anglers to get on to a new lake invariably do really well before the carp wise up to UK techniques… it could be you?

The lake is around 18 acres in size and is long and rectangular in shape. Depth varies with an average of 3 to 6m, shallowing up to less than 1m in places. The lake bed is silty, but fairly firm and clear, with gravel patches in places which are easily found with a marker rod. There are no significant known snags or weed beds, but some of the margins do have over hanging trees that act as good holding areas for the carp.

Access is possible around the venue by car and, because it’s flanked by fields on all sides, fishing is possible all around the lake. The swims are well spaced out and the limits of each swim have been marked in the lake with conduit markers - fishing is only permitted within the confines of these markers unless adjacent swims are free. This is not a problem as the area of water for each swim is generous.

There are excellent facilities in a large wooden lodge at the entrance. It has a fully fitted kitchen including fridge / freezer, cooker, oven, tables and chairs.

There are also two showers and toilets which are tiled and clean - one allowing good access for wheelchairs.

The fish stocks in this lake are excellent and you can expect plenty of action. Around four tonnes of carp were stocked in 2003 and the average is now high doubles... but there’s plenty of 20’s... and 30+’s are regular visitors to the bank. The lake record is currently 41lb and there are several large sturgeon to 61lb.
