We thought 2006 had been a good year for Lac du Val... but 2007 turned out to be even better with catches and feedback which were simply outstanding. Fish well into the 30’s were landed every week and 40’s were not at all uncommon. Take a look at the customer feedback to see what we mean.
Here’s a typical example from the Anderson party, who fished the lake in August 2007;
“ 19 fish caught up to 42lb 8oz mirror. Also included 2 x 30’s, 8 x 20’s and 8 big doubles. We are recommending Sammy for a Michelin Star... her steak pie is out of this world. The tuition from Dave is priceless, the shop on site has everything you could need. We had the chalet which was very comfortable and well worth having. We would recommend the venue to anyone, it is a beautiful place and Dave keeps it immaculate.”
Lac du Val is around 4½ acres & set in northern Normandy, less than an hour's drive from the ferry port of Caen. The privacy of the site allows peaceful and tranquil carp fishing in lush rural surroundings for a maximum of five anglers - it is possible to book the lake exclusively.
The venue is owned by an English couple, David and Sammy Harding. They have lived on-site in their converted farm house for six years and during this time they have enlarged, landscaped and stocked the water with a superb stock of magnificent looking carp. David has been involved in carp fishing both in the UK and on the Continent since the 1960’s so his understanding of what you are looking for from a carp fishing session is second to none.

The lake, which opened as a commercial fishery in 2004, is of the small Estate lake type surrounded by grassy banks, dammed at one end and with two islands providing a natural haven for the carp at the top end. It is fed by a trout stream so the water quality is excellent.
The depth varies from 3m at the right hand end of the damn wall, averaging 1.5m in the centre, down to as little as 50cm in the shallows by the islands at the top end. David tells us that stalking carp in these areas can be very productive. The lake also holds specimen tench, perch and trout as well as good head of roach and rudd.

The facilities on this venue are excellent - there are 2 Norwegian style wooden chalets which will sleep two people and are fully equipped for self catering… with the added bonus of video & Sky TV!
The Farmhouse chalet lies about 50 metres from the lake and has ensuite shower and toilet facilities. The Lakeside chalet is situated right on the waters edge and like the Farmhouse chalet has full facilities with the exception of toilet and shower. For these you walk to the Farmhouse (about 60 metres) where there is a separate toilet and shower.

Adjacent to the farmhouse there is an anglers room which has a toilet and shower as well as a bait freezer.

The local village is close by and has a several shops for essential items, including bakers and very reasonably priced restaurants.

A complete food package (breakfast & evening meal) is available for £80 per person. Take a look at the customer feedback and you’ll see that this comes very highly recommended. Here’s a couple of typical comments:
‘The meals were lovely home cooking and the puddings were out of this world!’
Graham Boreham, July 2006
‘Sammy’s meals are well worth having – we’re all going home to diet!’
Ian Warnecke, July 2006
Can’t say more than that!
If you book the food package you will be asked to pay a 10% deposit to Angling Lines and the balance to the lake when you arrive. Please note that due to fluctuations in the exchange rate the balance you pay when you arrive may not equate exactly to the remaining 90% in £’s sterling – it may be slightly more or less due to a change in the exchange rate.

The current stock is over 200 carp and the largest resident goes to 61.04. The water currently has at least 30+ thirties and 15+ forties and 4 known 50+’s... and this number is increasing all the time. The largest common goes an amazing 61.04!
David has stocked the lake himself and has followed a policy of introducing good quality fish in small batches - these have now grown to a very good size. The first batch of carp, stocked in 2000, were all mid to upper doubles and these fish now make up the bulk of the 20's in the water. Since then fish have been added on a regular basis, with a batch of 22 fish added in January 2004 - all these fish were over twenty pounds. On 29th Feb. 2004 a further 24 carp were added - 5 x 30lb, 15 x 20lb, 3 x big doubles and a cracking 43lb common.
October 2005 - 52.04 Mirror stocked! Click here for info.
